WELCOME!
The Mason Homeschool Co-op was founded in 2002 by a group of homeschooling mothers who wanted a safe place for their children to experience learning together while giving moms a place to fellowship with like-minded believers. The Co-op has met in a variety of churches and currently meets at Grace Bible Presbyterian Church, south of the intersection of Route 42 and Fields Ertel Road.
The Mason Co-op meets for two 14-week semesters each school year. The first semester generally starts the Friday after Labor Day and finishes before Christmas, taking the Friday after Thanksgiving off. The second semester begins in January and finishes at the end of April, taking Good Friday and the Friday of the Midwest Homeschool Convention off. The mornings begin with an opening assembly at 9:00 am. The first 55 minute class begins at 9:30 and the third ends at 12:25 pm. The cost is $75 per family for each semester. Some classes have additional fees to cover expenses. Classes are available from 1-12th grade, with a nursery and preschool for the littlest ones.

As this is a cooperative, the families are all expected to remain on site and to serve in the Co-op. Moms serve during two out of the three hours of the morning, and have one hour free to socialize and receive support in the “Chew ‘n Chat” room. Moms have the option to either assist the teacher in two classes, or to teach one class and assist in one class. Teachers receive a $50 discount from their Co-op dues. There are additional service opportunities such as field trip coordinator, hospitality coordinator, safety coordinator, and building liaison.
The Mason Co-op also has some specialized teachers who are paid directly by the families for their classes. These teachers are not parents of students in the Co-op, but are experts in their field. The Co-op does not handle any of the finances that relate to these classes and the class fees are above and beyond the Co-op dues. In addition to this, moms who have students 7-12 grade, and no younger students in the Co-op, are permitted to pay an additional $25 “Drop-Off” fee per class (in addition to any other class/teacher fees required) and are not required to remain on the campus during the Co-op hours.
